Cari Lowery came to Copperas Cove in 2004 and made her first playoff appearance in 2006, which started a State playoff run of 17 straight years. Since 2006 Lady Dawg Volleyball has posted 30 plus wins each year.

In Coach Lowery’s 29 years as a Head Volleyball coach she has made 27 State playoff appearances, 6 Final Four appearances and won 870 games. 25 of Coach Lowery’s Varsity teams have all been selected to the Academic All District team.

When Coach Lowery left coaching to become the Athletic Director she was the 4th winningest active volleyball coach in Texas and the 12th winningest coach in the history of Texas Volleyball.

90+ of Coach Lowery’s players have received scholarships to continue playing volleyball at the collegiate level.

40+ former players have become High School or Junior High Volleyball Coaches.

Cari is leaving volleyball to take over as the Athletic Director for Copperas Cove ISD. She becomes only the 30th woman in the state of Texas to hold this position in Texas.

Prior to arriving at Cove, Johnson was at W.T. White high school in Dallas, Texas. Johnson took his W.T. team to a winning season for the first time in 20 years, and back to back playoffs for the first time in 40’years. Chosen as coach of the week in Texas by Dave Campbell’s Texas Football.

30 years as an experienced athletic executive in education and coaching, creating culture in education based athletics!

From TCU, A&M and even leading as the Head Coach at two NAIA programs, Johnson has been able to build and create culture at the highest level.

I believe first and foremost I am a teacher. I know how to leverage 21st century education and make it fit and thrive in an athletics setting. I am R.A.A certified with proven athletic administration leadership.

I have experience working with collegiate and high school students from a wide variety of educational and diverse backgrounds.

Bachelors degree in History Education, two Masters degrees, one from TCU in Liberal Arts, and one from Ft. Hays State in Education Administration.

2023 marks the 30th year of coaching and administrative leadership for Johnson. A teacher of life skills as well as athletics, I have coached or trained over 100 offensive linemen ( his specialty in football) who have earned college scholarships. Too many to name have played professionally.
