COPPERAS COVE - For the first time since 2018, the Copperas Cove Bulldawgs are playoff-bound in football.
Based on District 12-6A results through Week 10, and after a review of district tie-breaking procedures, there are four possible tie-breaking scenarios and the Bulldawgs are in the playoff field in all four scenarios. The division, seed, opponent and other playoff information will not be finalized until after Thursday's games.
In District 12-6A, point differential is capped at a maximum of 15 points per game for a team. Once a tie involving three or more teams is broken by points, it returns to head-to-head results.
Below is a breakdown of tie-breaking scenarios depending on the results of Thursday's games:
Scenario 1: Temple win at Harker Heights & Copperas Cove win vs. Midway
Harker Heights - 5-1
Temple, Midway, Copperas Cove - 4-2 (Would go to point differential. Temple is even with a 15-point win vs. Cove and a 15-point loss vs. Midway)
5.Shoemaker - 3-3
Scenario 2: Temple win at Harker Heights & Copperas Cove loss vs. Midway
Harker Heights - 5-1
Midway - 5-1
Temple - 4-2
Copperas Cove - 3-3 (Head-to-head win vs. Shoemaker)
Shoemaker - 3-3
Scenario 3: Harker Heights win vs. Temple & Copperas Cove win vs. Midway
Harker Heights - 6-0
Copperas Cove - 4-2 (Would then have head-to-head win vs. Midway)
Midway - 4-2
Shoemaker - 3-3 (Has head-to-head win vs. Temple)
Temple - 3-3
Scenario 4: Harker Heights win vs. Temple & Midway win at Copperas Cove
Harker Heights - 6-0
Midway - 5-1
Temple - 3-3 (Wins three-team point differential at +12)
Copperas Cove - 3-3 (Three-team point differential is -12, has head-to-head win vs. Shoemaker)
Shoemaker - 3-3 (Three-team point differential is even)
Thursday's schedule in District 12-6A is:
Copperas Cove vs. Midway - 7 p.m. at Bulldawg Stadium in Copperas Cove
Harker Heights vs. Temple - 7 p.m. at Leo Buckley Stadium in Killeen
Killeen vs. Bryan - 7 p.m. at Merrill Green Stadium in Bryan
